Course Description: There’s a difference between looking and seeing. Observational drawing involves the mental process of seeing what’s in front of you, processing and understanding the information that your eyes gather, and making marks on paper to memorialize your perception.
This class will focus on breaking down and understanding our visual perceptions and developing the eye-hand coordination to record what we see through drawing. Students will discover the process of “seeing” and practice techniques to realistically model their perceptions on paper. We will work from the three dimensional world, studying still life and the figure, and then making the abstraction to two dimensional art.
